GENERAL EFFECTS OF HEAT EXPOSURE:
Samples of polyester, Fiberglass, nylon, acrylic fibers, and PTFE were exposed in dry air. Breaking strengths were determined at 70°F. (22°C.), 65% R.H. before and after exposure.
- Exposures within this range:
- Partially deteriorated Fiberglass
- Completely deteriorated other fibers tested
- Exposures within this range:
- Resulted in progressive loss of breaking strength for Fiberglass and PTFE
- Completely deteriorated other fibers tested
- Exposures within this range:
- Had little or no effect on the breaking strength of Fiberglass and PTFE
- Resulted in progressive loss of breaking strength for polyester, nylon, and acrylic fibers
- Exposures within this range:
- Had little or no effect on the breaking strength on any of the fibers tested
